Gun Loading and Transfer
The final station does not merely execute a calculation. It joins five separate decisions—target, shell, physical charges, traverse, and elevation—inside one barrel. Most preventable misses here are transfer errors rather than difficult mathematics.

Assign the barrel before moving ammunition
When both guns are active, a correct solution can still fail if it reaches the wrong side. Put LEFT or RIGHT on the firing card before selecting the shell. Keep the second target's card physically and visually separate. The operator should be able to point from every control setting back to one named target and one current origin.
Load effect and propellant as different decisions
The shell provides the battlefield effect required by the order. Powder charges create the trajectory selected at the calculator. Confirm both independently: the correct number of charges does not excuse the wrong shell, and the correct shell will not land accurately when the physical charge count differs from the recorded elevation pair.
- Read the required shell from the objective line.
- Read charges from the selected calculator solution.
- Verify the intended barrel before transfer.
- Mark the card loaded only after both values match.

Lay traverse and elevation from different sources
Traverse bearing comes from the final map line. Elevation comes from the calculator result for the recorded range and charge count. Keeping those sources separate makes diagnosis faster: a left-right miss sends you to geometry and traverse, while a short-long miss sends you to range, charges, and elevation.
Use a spoken or visual read-back
Immediately before firing, read the complete chain in the same order every time: target, current NEST position, bearing, range, shell, charges, elevation, barrel. Cross out the card after relocation, a target correction, or a changed physical load. A short verification is faster than reloading and rebuilding evidence after an avoidable miss.
