Shot Lands Short or Long

A shell travelling on the correct line but landing short or long points to the range-and-trajectory chain. The useful evidence is distributed across the tactical map, calculator, loading system, firing card, and gun elevation controls.

Recheck the final range

Confirm the line begins at the current NEST and ends at the actual target, not a spotter or search intersection that was later corrected. A precise calculator cannot detect a stale origin or wrong endpoint. Copy the new range together with its target label.

Compare selected and physical charges

The calculator solves the count selected on its controls. The gun follows the count physically loaded. Compare both with the firing card; do not assume the transfer happened correctly. If the loader changed the count, the previous elevation is invalid even when it remains displayed.

  1. Read map range.
  2. Read calculator charge selection.
  3. Count the physical load.
  4. Read calculated elevation.
  5. Read actual gun elevation and barrel label.

Reject random compensation

Adding powder or changing elevation from intuition creates a different trajectory and hides the original mismatch. Use the current calculator to generate a complete replacement pair after any confirmed change. Preserve the first card so you can explain the difference between impacts.

Escalate only after the chain matches

If range, selected charges, physical load, elevation, and barrel all match yet the impact remains wrong, record the build, mission, target, and exact values before reporting a possible patch-specific issue. This evidence is more useful than a general claim that the calculator is inaccurate.
